November 2018
Since 2009, over twenty (20) players who have played baseball with the Michigan Express have received College scholarships with the opportunity to play Collegiate Baseball. Education has always been a top priority of the organization. Coach Kristian Gennette, who is the co-founder of the Michigan Express Baseball Club, will be coaching in his ninetieth (19) season of League and Travel Baseball, and the last five (5) seasons with Assistant Coach Hasan Karim (Coach K).
The last five (5) seasons, Coach Kristian and Coach Hasan have decide to put strong emphasis on Education, Development, and Exposure. Our goal as a coaching staff is to help develop good young men first, and for these young men to become good student-athletes second. As a coaching staff, we understand that to successfully promote good values, we must set good examples for our young men. Being good citizens on and off the baseball field. Being in good character and displaying good sportsmanship to our teammates as well as the opposing teams, officials, and spectators.
Regarding our strategic plan for developing our players and providing them with the necessary exposure for opportunities to play Collegiate baseball, the coaching staff carefully researches different Select and College Showcase Tournaments for the Express to compete in successfully. Also, the coaching staff will make recommendations to our players to which College Showcase to attend. Coach Kristian always has roster sheets available to distribute to college coaches at Tournaments and Showcases. This method has benefited our players tremendously, that’s why as a coaching staff, we’re very excited and confident about our developmental program with a Michigan Express 14U baseball team.
The last two (2) seasons, the Michigan Express was very successful competing at the 18U level. In 2017, the Michigan Express went undefeated in two (2) Select Tournaments, winning Two (2) Championship games, and making it to the semi-finals in two other tournaments. In 2018, the Express played in four straight Championship games, the only tournament we didn’t play for the Championship was rained out. Going undefeated in the EMU Select Tournament and winning six (6) games at the Central Michigan Tournament (CMU) finishing in second place, defeating last year’s Champion (2017) in the 18U division 8-0.
Beyond our team’s success, individually the Michigan Express players have had tremendous success. In both 2017 and 2018 We had players to receive All-League Honors playing with their respective High School teams, with two (2) of our players winning a State Championship in 2016.
Our players have done very well at some of the top showcases. In 2016 with PBR, we had players that were Top Performers with the top 60-yard dash times, being named “Best Athlete and “Top Infielder, and Top performers at Top Prospect Games at EMU in 2016 and 2017, and Top pitching velocity at PBR showcase.
In January of 2017, we had four (4) players from the Michigan Express named to the 2017 Under Amour Pre-Season All-American Team and competed in the 2017 Under armor Pre-Season All-American Tournament in Mesa, Arizona with The Baseball Factory. Our catcher was named one of the top 10 at this event.
We contribute a lot of our team and players success with our Winter training that we conduct every off Season from November to March. Through all our research and the positive results, the coaching staff believes in our Winter Training Program consisting of speed-agility and strength-conditioning. Finally, the support and commitment from all our dedicated Parents cannot go unmentioned. Thank You!
